Barbara Bower is a popular wedding and portrait photographer with us in the summer and fall months. She has earned her Photographic Craftsman and Masters from the PP of A. (Professional Photographers Association of America) In the winter months she travels to Florida and operates her own business photographing her passion, horses. Barb wrote a blog post for us to give a bit of insight as to how she stays warm and busy during these cold winter months.
Palm Trees and 80 degrees in February, And the best part is being in horse heaven! During the winter months the competitive riders and trainers head south to get out of the cold to train and compete with the best. I love this time of the year since it gets me out of the winter weather of Cleveland AND I get to meet and photograph some of the best riders in the world with their beautiful horses. The farms down here are also amazing with most looking like homes with beautiful woodwork in the barn and shutters on the outside of the stalls. I have been traveling to this land of OZ for over 7 years now and I can’t imagine being anywhere else this time of year. There are wonderful barns and beautifully landscaped areas to photograph all of the equine subjects. Since I have been coming down to Florida I have met several Olympic riders in the Hunter/Jumper, Dressage and Polo industries. When the season is over though, it is nice to get back home to my family, friends and all of my animals.
Stay warm Cleveland!
